Chimney Before Cleaning Chimney After Cleaning
Most homeowners have little knowledge about chimney and venting systems.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, an annual average of 53,700 residential fires in the United States from 1999 to 2002 related to home heating equipment. As a result of these fires, 320 people died, 1,270 people were injured, and total property losses were set at more than $637 million in property damage each year.
Chimneys are an integral part of a home heating system and they require
regular evaluation and maintenance. If homeowners understood this, the
threat of chimney fires and unsafe indoor air quality conditions could be
greatly reduced, and possibly eliminated altogether.
*Here at Envirosafe we perform an entire s
afety inspection visually externally and by video camera internally and perform a gas leak test to provide you with the most thorough inspection possible.
Why should you have your chimney swept?
Creosote (pictured below) is a substance that can burn at temperatures up to
3000 degrees Fahrenheit. It can have the same ignition temperature as a
piece of paper. The creosote can then break loose, fly out of your chimney, and
ignite your home, or possibly fly far enough away to ignite your neighbor's
home.
